We take pride in our thorough deck cleaning process before re-staining. We start by applying a stain removing solution to wet the deck surface and strip away the old stain. This gentle approach is easier on the deck surface and helps to keep the wood looking newer for longer. Next, we lightly pressure wash the deck to remove the solution and any other contaminants that may be present. Once the cleaning is complete, we allow the deck to dry completely for 24 hours (sometimes less in warmer weather) before starting the staining process. We always provide an upfront, all-inclusive quote that covers the cost of cleaning solutions and stains, so you won't have any surprises.

The cost of the stain increases with its quality. Transparent stains are suitable for decks in good condition (we suggest using semi-transparent oil-based stains). However, solid color stains are ideal for concealing flaws in older decks.

The pricing for our deck refinishing services is determined by the materials used in the construction of the deck. Factors such as the type of wood and its condition can affect the difficulty and attention required during the cleaning and refinishing process. Some common materials we work with include cedar, pine, redwood, vinyl, and composite.

When decks are not well maintained, power sanding may be necessary prior to staining and sealing, which incurs additional costs compared to the lighter sanding needed for re-staining a well-maintained deck.
